According to NdS, the doorway was as wide as the shop itself.

The threshold was of lava and in the middle was a piece of travertine, with a groove for the closure shutters.

On the extreme right they were replaced by a small door-leaf.

The two door-jambs were of brick.

The shop had a high dado of brick plaster, (intonaco laterizio) divided into large panels, by means of vertical red bands.

In the centre of each panel the representation of a plant with a very high stem was seen.

In the south-east corner is a rise of masonry with two steps, on which rested a wooden ladder leading to the upper floor.

The imprint of the ladder can be seen on the east wall.

The floor was of coarse cocciopesto.
